On what would have been the 16th Glamour Awards, we had a mini reunion

I have been so lucky with work friends over the years, I really have. On every magazine I’ve worked on, I’ve had the BEST friends. From intern pals (hey Amy Lawrenson) to female bosses, and gals and guys I’ve met along the way, the majority of my close friends are now people I’ve worked with, or for. And I love that! Sure, when you get together you mainly chat about old work days, annoying colleagues you used to despise and that hottie in accounts you had a thing with. Oh wait, that NEVER happened – straight men don’t exist in the land of women’s magazines – but my life is full of work wives (and gay guys) and I could not be happier.

If your name’s not on the list, you’re not coming in

So when the amazing James Williams invited me to a get-together with my old Glamour colleagues on the night what would have been the 16th Glamour Awards I jumped at the chance. In my four years at Glamour I formed some of my favourite friendships, and the chance to see the gang again made me SO happy. Unlike the annual awards ceremony held at Berkeley Square Gardens, we ditched the evening wear, the free booze and the celebrity red carpet for a night at the pub and it was just as fun. Well, it takes some beating – last year’s awards I was sat on the same table as Jennifer Hudson and Jennifer Saunders, and a couple of years before that I got to interview Kerry Washington during my peak Scandal obsession. I did not stay cool – not in the slightest.

But still, on our mini reunion (which was missing a few key players – you know who you are) we had a cordoned off area and a very attentive barman, so I can’t complain. Annoyingly, we didn’t get a goodie bag (and Michelle, if you’re reading this, yes, I always took one and no, I’m not sorry about it haha!).

If there’s one thing for sure, the Glamour team will always rally together, and support one another, even when people don’t have their sh*t together – I just hope the reunions continue … but perhaps next time we can have one after Love Island finishes because I bloody missed it didn’t I?! Swines!

P.S. I searched high and low for my first ever Glamour Awards outfit and here it is…

What on earth was I wearing? It would appear I liked the bateau neckline way before Meghan Markle did.
